The next entry in a series I'm doing to help out my fellow community members at vVv Gaming (http://www.vvv-gaming.com/)
So last week I wrote up a little entry about four gate, why it sucks, why we all hate it, and why I intend to find another reliable way to play PvP. I discussed the various builds I have tried to use to defeat it, and why they ultimately fell short. Finally, I discussed the method that others have experimented with to defeat the four gate, and my goals for executing the build.
Now I've had a chance to practice the build against a real opponent: vVv Preen (thanks for the help man!) I could write up an entry to show you guys how it went, but I figured a video (or four) to explain in-depth an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses would be better. So please enjoy.
In game one I was still warming up and executed poorly. Things look grim if this game is any indication of how things are going to go.
In game two I improved my execution, but poor gas timing cost me any hope of pulling off the build.
In game four it looks bad, but due to good gas timing and a preference for stalkers from my opponent, I manage to hold. First success and it happens much sooner than I expected it to!
Game four is my cleanest execution yet, AND I don't fail with my forcefields! But a new and dire threat appears in my opponent's unanticipated strategy...
I still have a lot of work to do, especially with cleaning up my build. I expect to spend some time during the next week cleaning up my build, finding a new opponent, and really putting this build through its paces. I will also post the final timings that I find to be optimal for the build order. Until then, I guess you'll just have to four gate (or switch to Terran).
