Ok, so like I said in my last post, I was thinking about the points system I wanted to use. I looked at other review systems and picked apart what I liked/didn't like about them. Here is what I've got:
Instead of rating a simple 1-10, where most games make it in the 6-9 range(don't believe me? Take a look at most review sites), I've decided to break down the rating into categories that gamers care about.
Success For Genre: I can't think of a better way to word this, some games, like Call of Duty, are made to be action-packed. The Sims is made to be realistic. Games like Final Fantasy is based on its great story-telling. If I rated all games on action, some would fail miserably in that category even though they are great games.
Replayability: From achievements/trophies to differing story lines, the worth of playing through a game more than once is important, especially at $60 a game.
Entertainment: Obviously, one of the most important parts of a game is its ability to entertain.
Graphics: This day in age games are either pushed to be as realistic as possible, or made intentionally cheesy. Here I will rate how well it does this.
Ingenuity: I think that games have evolved enough that its not good enough to release the same game but in a new location. Call of Duty and Medal of Honor were guilty of this for years. The game(although with improved graphics and control) were essentially the same just in a slightly different location. This rating will be for what the game brings to the table.
SO, this is what I have come up with. Any ideas? Any improvements? Let me know, I want this to be a place people can come to get good reviews from a gamers perspective.
